Interesting website – we can provide some information about Albert Leivers born in Heanor in 1889. He went to Canada in the early 1900s and returned to Europe in 1917 with the Canadian Army. Serving in France he won the Military Medal three times – one of very few people to achieve this. He returned to Canada after the First War and never came back to the UK. He then worked as miner in Alberta until his death in the early 1970s
Hello Michael, Albert Leivers sounds a fascinating person, with an extraordingary life. Thank you so much for bringing him to my attention. I’m looking forward to researching more about him! Is he a relative of yours?
